During the autumn aman harvest (the larger of the two yearly rice harvests in Bangladesh) the sight of a farmhand carrying bushels of recently gathered rice back from the paddy fields, is a common one. As they hurry to move the crop to a dry storage area in the village, the evenly balanced bundles bounce up and down over their shoulders.
